The Major Arcana

A typical traditional Tarot deck has seventy-eight cards that are divided into the major and the minor arcana’s. The Major Arcana is said to be the heart and soul of the tarot when it comes to divination and doing readings. They are the cards with the most symbolic and divinatory importance in a reading.

Infinite Visions Tarot has two extra cards that were designed to serve as warnings. They are the Dark Priestess, and the Dark Magician. You can learn more about the meaning and purpose of these two cards by finding their link on the left.

Although I usually sort the Dark Priestess and Dark Magician with the Major Arcana, they are not associated with any numbers. They are in a class of their own and they represent the dark side of the personality and often represent people with disturbed or dysfunctional energy.

Infinite Visions Tarot is based on the traditional Rider-Waite deck, and a tarot reader who is used to that symbolism will have an easy time reading with this deck. There will be very little learning curve at all.

Major Arcana, Empress and Emperor

The Empress and the Emperor cards are taken from paintings of an actual empress and emperor, although I did change the face of the Emperor.

The Hierophant shows a holy man surrounded by people, including a king who waits to speak to him. I thought that picture reflected the spiritual aspect of the Hierophant rather than the political side we see so much of today.
